One of my favorite parts about these time capsule blogs is reading the cute little notes I write myself at the beginning. I always feel a *little* cheesy when I’m typing them, but when the letter comes in 200 days later, I always smile.
This letter opened with: Hey 33-year-old me, how are you?
Then I wrote, when you get this, it will probably still be hot from the summer. You might be looking at your sweaters with longing. But let me tell you, I’m ready for that summer weather right NOW.
I know myself so well.
And lastly, I signed off with a message I hope you send to your future self. One we all need to hear once in a while.
Love you and I’m rooting for you. -You.

1) What day is it?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): Monday February 20, 2023
.
2) Describe yourself today.
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): Contemplative. I’ve got a lot on my heart, a lot in my head, just a lot. But I’m grateful for this beautiful sunny day. I’ve got my windows open for the first time in a while and I’m soaking in this burst of heat before the rain comes back.
February was hard and busy and chaotic. But we made it through and found a lot of magic in it too.

3) What did you do today?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): I went to work. Came home and—as has become my Monday routine—watched the new CodyTrains video while eating a bowl of cereal. Now I’m sitting down to write for a bit before Jazzercise class. Then I’ll take a shower, eat dinner, and work on Natalee’s wedding present until it’s time for bed!
I still watch CodyTrains videos every Monday, but they were especially exciting at the beginning of this year because he was training for his first ever Ironman and it felt like we were all along for the ride. If you’re looking for some inspiration to exercise, or to just step out of your comfort zone and try something new, I highly recommend this channel. You can start anywhere, though I would recommend starting from the beginning as there are a lot of inside jokes at this point that are 10x funnier if you understand them.

4) What’s your favorite song right now?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): I just recently got into Role Model’s music and have been liking his new single “A Little More Time” but the song I absolutely have on repeat right now is “Sorry” by Russell Dickerson. Ooh! And Kelsea Ballerini’s new album “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat”
Have not gotten sick of any of these songs. Also, my past self would be delighted to know that I got to see Kelsea Ballerini live a few months later, where my cousin and I screamed our hearts out to every song.
.
5) What’s the most recent movie you’ve seen?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): I have been trying to see all of the Oscar nominees so I watched “Triangle of Sadness” the other night and…wow. I get what the movie was about, I see and hear the statements being made about class. But that middle section. On the yacht. I am forever traumatized. There was just so much….vomit.
Still traumatized.

6) Who did you last text and what did you say?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): To the family group chat: “The world really is ending.”
Which was in response to the news report my mom sent that said there was a possibility of snow in Los Angeles.
10/10 do not remember this in the slightest, but glad to know the world didn’t end. Bummed I didn’t get to make a snowman though.
.
7) What is your biggest goal right now?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): I think my biggest goal is just to quiet my mind. I think for a long time I kept thinking: once I get this, I will feel calm, once I check this box, I will find peace. But year after year, even if I put a check in whatever box, peace still manages to outrun me. And I don’t think it’s because I’m not in a place where it exists, but rather I’m letting outside forces and opinions keep it out of my reach. So this year—in the year of “peace”—I think my biggest goal is to grab onto whatever peace I can find. And to quiet my mind of all the outside influences telling me I can’t have it because I don’t have x or y. I want to find peace exactly where I am and embrace all of its goodness.
Pretty much sums up my ongoing goal for the year. And I like to think it’s going pretty well so far.

8) What are you most excited about?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): I am most excited about 1) Natalee & Will’s wedding weekend and 2) the trip my mom and I are taking to Israel in April!
Both were incredible and magical. Both bring a smile to my face when I think about them. Also, in case you missed it, I wrote about the Israel trip.
.
9) What are you most worried about?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23): I think my biggest worry and my biggest goal are kind of intertwined. They both exist because of the other.
Okay, lyricist. Totally know what you mean but love that you added a little cryptic *mystery*
.
10) What’s the best thing you’ve eaten in the last 200 days?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/20/23):
-Tea sandwiches at the Natalee’s bridal shower
-Circus animal cookie from Crumbl
-Cheesesteak sandwich from YardHouse on cousin weekend.
I think all of these improved my quality of life, especially in the context with which they were eaten. I gasped rereading these and my stomach audibly growled.
You can check out this post to find out how you can create your own time capsule.
Our next delivery date is: April 1, 2024!
April Fools day, and my cousin’s birthday! (Happy future birthday Taryn!)
As usual, I will excitedly await the arrival of this next time capsule and the future it lives in, but I won’t rush towards it. Here’s hoping there’s lots to enjoy between now and then.
