200 Day Time Capsule Blog #13

If you were here for the last check in, you’ll find my spirits are clearly much higher in this one. The sass level has gone wayyyy down, and thankfully so has the angst.

It wasn’t a perfect 200 days, but this letter reminded me how much good there is to be found in each set! It’s always a joy to remember not only the big things, but the tiniest details that might otherwise have blended into the background.

It’s also just fun to talk to myself.

1) What day is it?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): Saturday October 26th.

.

2) Describe yourself today

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): Overall, pretty productive! I’ve also been feeling very creative. I’ve been hanging new things on my walls, wanting to express…something! And it feels good.

Can confirm this creative spirit carried on! I Etsy-ed my little heart out and really started to bring my apartment into the present moment with me, which I love.

.

3) What did you do today?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): I took my parents to the airport at 4:30am, but then got to come back home and sleep for a couple more hours. Then I ran some errands, including getting two new plants, and then came home and did a bunch of chores.

One of these plants is thriving in a Taylor Swift Era’s Tour popcorn bucket, the other is *alive* but making up it’s mind on how long it wants to stay that way. Stay with me, little guy!!

4) What’s your favorite song right now?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): I just listened to the Kelsea Ballerini album for the first time all the way through, so I have a feeling a new favorite(s) is going to be on that album. But currently, I might say, “Armor” by Jordan Feliz, “Anyways I Love You” by Wild Rivers, & “Sugar Daddy” by Devon Cole.

I went ahead and played KB’s album ON REPEAT for the next few months (and still, honestly.) “I Would, Would You” was my favorite song off of it.

.

5) What’s the most recent movie you’ve seen?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): I watched Stand By Me for the first time (I know, shameful) the other day. And I’m hoping to see We Live in Time at some point this weekend.

I saw We Live In Time in theaters and damn did we all cry in that room together. Such a beautiful movie. I watched it again the minute it started streaming.

.

6) Who did you last text and what did you say?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): My friend Sam (hey Sam!!) making a plan to order Thai food and watch the Dodger game (World Series Game 2!!) tonight.

We won that game (and the World Series!!) and the Thai food was 10/10.

.

7) What is your biggest goal right now?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): I think the biggest thing I’m working on right now is my Twelve Days of Christmas series for my Thursday Faith newsletter, though it’s crazy to think that when this letter comes out that will have already been posted five months ago lol.

TRUE. It did already come out 5 months ago now, but I am very proud of how it came out! I’m also proud of myself for powering through and finishing it, because at the time of this letter I had my doubts.

If you’re interested, you can read the series here.

.

8) What are you most excited about?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): The World Series, my niece’s first birthday, tweaking my apartment more and more to feel like *my place*, the aforementioned Thai food.

Babe, you don’t even know, WE WON! And the birthday party was one of my favorite days of the year. Shout out to Russ Bauer and the whale song.

.

9) What are you most worried about?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): Honestly just the nagging feeling of “you’re missing it” or “you’re doing it wrong” or “time is running out.” And it’s not even related to one thing, really, it’s just this nagging feeling that’s in the background of most days.

I am doing a lot better with this feeling now, but understand it’s also just a part of life. I was going to say, “life in your thirties” but I don’t think it plays favorites. There’s always going to be a reason to criticize yourself or question your life if you look for it, so I’ve been spending a lot of time focusing on the parts of my life I’m thankful for, and appreciating THIS place, right here, rather than always telling myself to focus on what’s ahead or, more accurately, what “should” be ahead.

This post is a little bit about that feeling.

.

10) What’s the best thing you’ve eaten in the last 200 days?

My answer from the last time capsule (10/26/24): A family friend’s chocolate cake. It was 10/10.

The answer to this could probably ALWAYS be cake, if I’m honest. But I do remember this cake being especially delicious.

You can check out this post to find out how you can create your own time capsule.

Our next delivery date is: November 28, 2025! A day of multiple birthdays in my family! 🙂

As usual, I will excitedly await the arrival of this next time capsule and the future it lives in, but I won’t rush towards it. Here’s hoping there’s lots to enjoy between now and then.
