The Best Things I Bought This Year (List-cember #1)

Hello and welcome to List-cember! My own version of a year-end roundup series, where the posts are all lists!**

**Except this year there are more than lists—oops!

This month is all about looking back on the year and sharing what I liked, learned, and could do without moving forward. And since December can often be a month filled with shopping—either for Christmas gifts, or things to treat yourself with after a long, hard year—I thought I’d start with the best things I bought this year.

Here we go!

1) Duvet cover from Piglet in Bed

I was looking to elevate my bedding and this brand came highly recommended. And now I know why! I’ve never taken so many pictures of my bed before. (find it here)

.

2) Pillow covers

The throw pillows I had on my couch were old and tired, so I found these (alongside these inserts) to add a fun pop of color. (find them here)

.

3) Living Proof dry scalp care

My scalp loves to overreact. She gets dry and irritated and honestly just loves to complain. Thankfully, I found this and it seems to calm her down. (find it here)

.

4) Adhesive cable clips

For a long time I’ve scowled at the messy wires of my television slithering down my wall, wishing they didn’t look so…ugly. And I’ve tried an assortment of things to make them cuter, but none have worked better than these clips partnered with these covers. (find them here)

.

5) A cooling blanket

I love sleeping under covers, but in Southern California, when the nighttime temperatures in the summer like to hover in the 80 degree zone, this isn’t really feasible. But this blanket acted as the perfect summer companion, helping me feel cozy while not making me want to die. (find it here)

6) Seriously So Good cookbook

After finding a few of Carissa’s recipes online, I discovered she had a cookbook out and immediately bought it. Since then, I have told nearly everyone about it and am hoping to cook my through the whole thing! (find it here)

.

7) Waffle maker

For Christmas last year, my sister bought me the new Half Baked Harvest cookbook, and in looking through it I wholeheartedly imprinted on the cinnamon waffles in the breakfast section. I couldn’t stop thinking about them, I needed them in my life, and so I bought this waffle maker to make that happen. And it was BEYOND worth it. (find it here)

.

8) Cropped pants from Beyond Yoga

As a girl who lives most of her life perfectly content in Old Navy leggings, I’m not one to shell out money for the bigger brands. But Beyond Yoga?? Yeah, I’ll save up for those. They are so buttery, and they make me feel like I probably own a beach house somewhere. (find them here)

.

9) Silicone body scrubbers

My skin randomly decided that loofas were unbearable at the beginning of this year, which was fun and normal, so I found these silicone alternatives which are both gentler and cleaner. (find it here)

.

10) A dumbbell rack

Strength training was a big part of my year, and after buying a new set of weights, I bought this rack to store them and silently announce to anyone who comes over that I’m a jacked fitness queen, obviously. (find it here)

11) iPad case

I skimped when I bought my first iPad case and spent a lot of time trying to prop it up, especially when I was cooking, and I not only dropped it a few times, but also dipped an entire corner in flour once, so I snagged this case on Prime Day and have been so happy with it. (find it here)

.

12) A new Mac!

This is by far my biggest purchase of the year—my biggest purchase of the last couple years! —but it was perhaps my most needed. My old laptop was from 2013, and was so outdated that the employee at the Apple Store had to ask for help when erasing the hard drive. I’ve told myself for a long time that once I got a new laptop I’d probably write a best-selling book on it, so keep your eyes peeled! (find it here)

.

13) This sweater from Stitch Fix

Remember how I said I metaphorically own a beach house? Yeah, I also wear this sweater while I’m there doing a puzzle, as a light ocean breeze sneaks in the window. I love my imaginary beach house. (find it here)

.

14) Mini loaf pan

My sister got me completely hooked on GoNanas banana bread this year, and one night while I was over at her house we made mini loaves and I think it changed my life. So naturally, I had to get my own loaf pan, and you can catch me most Sundays pulling it out of the oven full of banana bread goodness. (find it here)

.

15) Stretchy Shorts

These shorts were an absolute staple of my summer and such a pleasant surprise. They stretch! They say, you can wear me standing up OR sitting down! They say, be yourself babe, and I love that in a pair of shorts. (find them here)

16) At home matt cutter

I’m an avid cross stitcher, but I’ve learned the hard way (a few times) how expensive it can be to have a piece framed. As a result, I wanted to learn how to do it myself and this kit + cutting board have been game changers! (find them here and here)

.

17) A new clock for my living room

After many many years of having the same clock on my wall, one day I woke up and decided it simply ticked TOO LOUD. So I got a silent one that is gorgeous and new and lets me read in peace, and I love that. (find it here)

.

18) Cerave Hydrating Toner

I’ve been trying to ween my skin off of Pro-Activ this year and found this toner that was both gentle and effective. Plus you get a lot of bang for your buck! (find it here)

.

19) Loafers

On my spring bucket list, I decided that I wanted to “enter my loafer era” which really just meant I wanted to see if I could pull them off or not. I ended up finding a pair at my local DSW (on clearance no less!!) and they are so comfortable and add such a fun touch to any outfit. (find them here)

.

20) Burro’s Tail plant

To end us on a wholesome note, I bought this plant over the summer and thought it was the cutest little thing. My longtime hanging plant had finally died (RIP) and I wanted something else in my window, and while the one in the picture isn’t mine, just know she is adorable and thriving! (find it at your local plant store—I hope)
