Some nerdy math for you:
This is the fifteenth time capsule post, so that means…
15 posts x 200 days = 3000 days/365 days = 8.21 years.
Forgive me (and give me an A?) for showing my math, but that means this time capsule has been active for over eight years! A couple more and it will have glimpses into an entire decade of my life.
I think that’s pretty cool!
Having letters from the past pop up in my email is always a delight, and there’s something very emotional about seeing my past self write, I’m rooting for you! It makes me grateful for every version of myself that walks through every version of a day.
So let’s check in on past me, February me, to be exact.
—
1) What day is it?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): February 2, 2026
.
2) Describe yourself today
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): A little nervous! I booked my flights to Nashville to go see the 100 pages movie filmed and then had my predictable night of anxious sleep. But I’m trying to admit I’m nervous as much as possible so that it might lose a little oomph. I am nervous! But I’m going anyway! And I think it’s going to be so cool.
It WAS cool! The coolest, one could say. It was out of my comfort zone, yes, but it was also so fun! I met such great people and got to see a behind the scenes look at how this little movie of ours is coming together. Keep your eyes peeled for Boot Lake, y’all!
.
3) What did you do today?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): Aside from hit snooze on my alarm about 45 times, not much. It’s a normal Monday. But tonight I’m having dinner with my family, which should be lovely! I’m planning to make banana bread to bring along.
I love little details like this. I don’t remember this dinner. I don’t remember if I got around to making banana bread. But it was a little glimmer in my week, something that was surely going to lessen the nerves I was feeling about the trip. And I’m glad I wrote it down.
.
4) What’s your favorite song right now?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): I’ve been a little slow to get into new music this New Year, but I just started listening to Jamie MacDonald’s new album and I’m really liking it! Also, the Grammy’s were last night, so I have a bunch of albums written down that I’m hoping to listen to.
Still love Jamie MacDonald’s album! In fact, I wrote about one of the songs in my upcoming post on Thursday Faith.
.
5) What’s the most recent movie you’ve seen?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): Over the weekend I watched Train Dreams because I’m trying to watch all of the Best Picture nominees before the Oscars. It was beautifully shot, and after the last line I unexpectedly burst into tears. So far, my pick for the winner is Sinners. We’ll see if that sticks after I’ve seen them all.
This was the first year I successfully watched all of the nominees before the ceremony. And while Sinners didn’t win the big prize, Michael B. Jordan did, so I was happy! Also, that post Train Dreams cry hit hard.
.
6) Who did you last text and what did you say?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): I texted my sister: “The descent into chaos is so good!” in response to a video she sent me this morning of her kids that made me laugh out loud.
I went back and rewatched this video, in which my nephew takes hold of my sister’s phone and zooms wildly, and laughed all over again.
.
7) What is your biggest goal right now?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): On a podcast I was listening to the other day the speaker said that he no longer wants fear to be the only reason he doesn’t do something. “That’s not a good enough reason not to do it,” he said, and it’s stuck with me. So maybe my biggest goal is to keep pushing through the fear to try new things, meet new people, and find new opportunities that I might not have otherwise found.
Looking at the big picture (re: question two) it makes sense why this would resonate so much. And it still does. I am scared all the time, but I make a point to push past it, to see what exists on the other side of it—and it is so often good.
.
8) What are you most excited about?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): The Olympics start on Friday!! Also, even though I am nervous, I’m excited to see the 100 Pages movie filmed!
Incredible news, past me, not only were the Olympics 10/10, but we have tickets for the 2028 games in hand!!
.
9) What are you most worried about?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): There a lot of unknowns right now. Things that I can’t control, both for the people around me, in my country and in the world, and when I think about it too much it sends me down a spiral of worry. I want to remain hopeful, I want to believe in the perseverance of good, and I pray I see that good take shape.
Magnifying that prayer up and out.
.
10) What’s the best thing you’ve eaten in the last 200 days?
My answer from the last time capsule (2/2/26): I impulse ordered a Domino’s pizza a few weeks ago and it was so good that I kept gesturing to my apartment after every bite like I wish it could try some. I also tried Jeni’s Butter Cake ice cream and WOW, JENI, YOU ARE A WIZARD.
Writing a note to myself to do this again ASAP.
—
And there we have it, a cute little check in, and a note at the end that I always look forward to:
Keep your head up, you got this! Be brave, I love you and am rooting for you!
And I am! I am rooting for her, the version of me writing this back in February. I am rooting for future me, for tomorrow me, for this afternoon me—and I’m rooting for you, too.
May the next 200 days be kinder and softer. May they bring more light to the news cycles, more compassion to collective comments section, more long awaited breakthroughs and radical healing. May there be good and lots of it!
I’m setting the next time capsule date for March 12, 2027.
See you then!
