My Spring Bucket List

Right, so, it has been spring for almost a month now, but here I am with a Spring Bucket List.

Also, it’s Tuesday and I usually post on Monday.

But oh well.

I just like this list and wanted to share, because somehow spring feels extra springy this year and I just got some tulips at the grocery store, and I’ve been oversending the sparkle emoji ✨ in my text messages.

Plus, I’ve already checked some off and I want to brag, if you don’t mind.

1) Buy fresh flowers bi-weekly

I have a side quest here to try and figure out what my favorite flower is and what better research is there than buying yourself bouquets??

.

2) Wear more than one hat

I probably own 20 baseball hats and only wear about 4. But every time I try to spring clean I keep all of them?? So I really just want to give everyone a chance.

.

3) Go on a hike

A sunny spring must.

.

4) Go on a walk in a new neighborhood

I love my neighborhood, but it would be fun to see something new. To go in an entirely new direction or drive somewhere 20-30 minutes away and then just walk around for a little bit pretending like I live there. I want to see more colorful front doors, more plants popping off for spring, more sidewalk chalk hopscotch courses, and more crowded driveways with loud backyards of families having barbecues that smell so good.

.

5) Try matcha from a new place

On and on she ventures on her matcha journey.

.

6) Go to a botanical garden

Already checked this off at the Huntington Gardens and it was 10/10.

.

7) Eat dinner outside

Summer tends to suck the fun out of sitting outside once you start feeling like you’re cooking alongside the food. So I want to make the most of it in the spring.

.

8) Get a new plant

Does anyone else get cuteness aggression when they buy a new plant? I bought one at the end of March and kept saying, I LOVE YOU on the way home. Thankfully it didn’t seem to freak her out and she’s growing like a champ.

.

9) Enter my loafer era?

I am looking for an in-between shoe. Something that is not a sandal but is not a boot. Something that elevates a look when I’m in the mood to be a *tiny* bit fancier. Something that is casual but not a flip flop and goes with everything and makes me feel like an adult. And all signs are pointing to loafer at this time.

.

10) Bake a springy cake

TBD if I share this with friends and family. I might just make it and then eat it off the dish with a fork—no plate. Spring called and said that was fine too.

.

11) Shop at a farmer’s market

While I’ve dabbled in farmer’s markets in the past, I think it would be fun to plan out a meal and then bake it with most (if not all) ingredients from a farmer’s market. Or, you know, I might just get strawberries and an ice cream cone. We’ll see where the cool breeze takes me.

.

12) Go to a Dodger game

Duh.

.

13) Do a pie embroidery

I found this pattern on Etsy a while back and have simply not stopped thinking about it. Even though I don’t like *eating* pie, I need this embroidered berry pie in my kitchen STAT.

.

14) Make sandwiches more fun

Fun, neurotic fact about me: I make the exact same thing for lunch every single day, and that includes a basic bitch sandwich with bread + mayo + honey mustard + cheese + meat. While I could argue that it’s for convenience, I also think that sometimes I forget that I can add more exciting toppings. Like arugula, avocado, red onion, tomatoes. etc. So I want to spice up my sandwich life.

.

15) Make Pinterest part of my social media

While I think I’m in a pretty good place with social media right now—I’m not selling it my soul like I’ve done on occasion—I think it might be nice to work Pinterest back into the rotation. It’s home to a lot of creative inspiration for me, and so I think it will be nice to scroll through those posts more often. Especially on days when I’m in the mood to blob on the couch and my brain can only take so many Instagram reels before it begins to lose touch with reality.

.

16) Wallpaper a wall in my bedroom

Pinterest will guide me to the right wallpaper. I know it in my heart.

.

17) Spring haircut

I am 96% sure I will chop all of my hair off before summer and have been referring to it as my “spring finale.” Though to be fair the 4% is strong and mighty and has, for the last four haircuts, convinced me to say, “just a little off the bottom.” So we’ll see what June brings.

.

18) Read outside

I have been in a good reading groove this year and love the idea of taking my current book outside more often and sunflowering—a term I learned this year that means to tilt your head up toward the sun and intentionally feel it.

.

19) Take Sundays off social media

It’s a nice clean break on my weekend and so far it’s felt great. But also, if my friends, family, and miscellaneous celebrities I care about could save all huge announcements until Monday, that would be great.

.

20) Open the windows

If I’m honest, I added this on here last minute because it would haunt me to end a list at 19 and not 20, but also this is such a *spring* thing so it deserves its own spot. Typically my air conditioner cries out in pain in the summer months if I dare open a window and make it work harder, so now is the time to let in that evening breeze, to hear the soft sounds of the morning, or to just give the strong smell of my spring clean Swiffer-ing somewhere to go. Sure, it also invites in the sound of the cats that fight in the alley way and the woman who walks by and clears her throat too many times, but the birds chirping and the neighborhood kids playing more than make up for it (most of the time).

.

I hope you have a very springy spring, and that you sunflower every chance you get.

May all of your vases be filled with fresh flowers and your picnics be free of bugs.

Also, dipped cones. I hope there are lots of those.
